BEDC connects Edo community to national grid
The Benin Electricity Distribution Company on Friday said it had connected Uteh Omozogie community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State to the national grid.
The Head of Community Relations, Mrs Virginia Osineme, in a statement made available to SUNDAY PUNCH, urged residents of Uteh Omozogie to protect the newly installed substation.
Osineme, who was in company with the Business Manager of Ikpoba Hill, Mrs Ekaete Ntukidem, and others, said, "The protection of the substation is everybody's business. If there is no electricity, you know who to meet and talk to. If you see anybody in the substation that is not authorised by the BEDC and the electricity committee, the fellow is a vandal and should be apprehended."
She pleaded with the community leaders to work with the BEDC to educate the children, youths and their wives on the importance of electricity safety and help disseminate the safety tips.
Also speaking, the Ikpoba Hill Business Manager, Mrs Ekaete Ntukidem, commended the community for their patience during the process of connecting them to the national grid.
One of the community leaders, Mr Iyoha Omozogie, lauded the BEDC for keeping fate with the community.
